A Disheartened Migration from Rejected
Relations

The avian kind takes on an unnerving streak in Hanna Pettyjohn, "A Disheartened Migration from Rejected Relations." The exhibit introduces a tribe of flightless birds in stoneware clay, rudimentary but deeply familiar figures with their hawk-like beaks, holes for eyes and well-tucked feathers. They huddle in uncharacteristic camaraderie and are supremely poised for attention, their blank gaze echoing their resplendent otherworldliness.
