Silent Witness

In Keiye Miranda’s Silent Witness, a sense of foreboding marks the quotidian as seeming ordinary figures folks are submerged into the water, their shoulders risen above the surface. With their backs turned to the viewer, they are neither waving nor drowning, but simply paying acute attention to an event, supernatural or otherwise, with the water enclosing their bodies in a steady grip. As the light hits the water and dissolves into wounds of irrevocable radiance, the figures seem to encounter a solid moment of epiphany. Precise and yet supple in their rendition of the human, the works are finely tuned in their exactitudes, telescopic in their vision and transformative in their appeal.
