In MM Yu's "Odds and Ends," on view until May 28 at the Finale Art File, the artist utilizes her trademark colors, abstracting them into a new level of expressiveness. Her once solid lines give way to drips and splotches while her shapes begin to ramify, expand and lose definition, evoking a look of unfinishedness or disintegration. In the process, her paintings achieve a state of movement and vitality, as if they are still being created. At once exuberant and contemplative, the paintings draw us to the very pulse of life.
