Parables and Paradoxes
February 22 to March 13, 2008
On view at Finale Art File is Wire Tuazon’s “Parables and Paradoxes.” As in his past works, the artist utilizes the image, the line of text situated across the painting, and the title of the work to plot and triangulate a meaning which results into a multi-layered reading of his canvases. They are at once a resounding footnote and update to the historical process, an ongoing conversation that ramifies and extends the explicit importance of familiar, contemporary images that drench our world. As inhabitants of this self-same world, we are unsettled and enriched by a deluge of insinuations, ironies, and insights which, as they problematize the nature of our assumptions, make clear the bedrock certainties of our definitions.
