Located at the Video Room and curated by Nilo Ilarde, "A Joint Venture" featuring Jed Escueta, Poch Naval, Raul Rodriguez and Miko Sandejas breaks the traditional notion of portraiture, evoking the essence of the person not through the body but through symbols. The symbols are "personalized" to reveal character, mood and mannerisms, evoked by sketches of a ruined doll, a photograph series of joint sticks against a changing background and abstract swirls and evocations. The use of different media, including photography, bespeaks of the transgressive strain of the exhibit, asserting the respective individuality of the artists who, through the power of images, decided to be collaborative.
