Old Dog New Tricks

Opening on Aug. 12 is Paulo Vinluan's "Old Dogs New Tricks" at the Tall Gallery of Finale Art File. Composed of large-scale works, the exhibit plays on and enlarges the strength of Vinluan of couching a decidedly socio-realist strain in graphic, advertising-inspired images, complete with typography, slogans and visual hooks. The works, flipping social conventions into dream-like sequences, swarm with psychedelic colors and otherworldly figures, distilling the artificial into pure poison. At once eye-popping and reactionary, the exhibit turns on an alternate channel blipping wih scenes of our ineptitude and certain doom.
