Execution of Elegance
by Robert Langenegger

April 17 - May 5, 2009

Opening at the Tall Gallery of Finale Art File (Warehouse 17, La Fuerza Compound, Gate 1, 2241 Pasong Tamo, Makati City ) on April 17 is Robert Langenegger 's Execution of Elegance. In this exhibit, the artist pursues the artistic theme that has consumed him in his career: the degradation of modern society. His figures--artists, scientists, priests, politicians, prostitutes and psychopaths--are once again on the loose, doing their perverted experiments and destroying the normalcy of what we call as polite society. Overwhelming in their physical largeness, the works which appear like murals afford us a grim and anarchic vision of the future--as opposed to the hopeful and redemptive tone of the frescoes and murals of Renaissance artists. Cautionary in their impact and swift in their violent juxatapositions, Langenegger's paintings are grim and terrible portraits of people who--through money, excess and power--have lost their humanity. Execution of Elegance is on view until May 5.
